QUANTITY SURVEYOR

Quantity Surveyor. An expanding curtain wall, window and door subcontractor based in Cardiff are seeking a Quantity Surveyor. In recent years they have significantly developed and expanded to provide a complete design, manufacture and installation service for the building envelope.

They have a range of experience in the education, health, commercial, retail and defence sectors with projects undertaken up to a value of £7 million.

They work from project concept through to completion, with a key emphasis placed on customer satisfaction.

Their quality product range includes curtain-walling, windows, shopfronts, automatic and revolving doors, fire resistant glazing, louvres and brise soleil with specialist knowledge being applied to the critical interfaces between the various façade elements.

QUANTITY SURVEYOR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY

The successful Quantity Surveyor will be required to:

  • • Attend pre-let meetings with Main Contractors to get an overview of projects and advise of items to raise
  • • Review contract documentation and negotiate terms with clients
  • • Issue monthly valuations for projects to Main Contractors, where possible by visiting site to meet with Main Contractors to build/enhance relationships
  • • Price/assist to price variations on projects
  • • Liaise with Sub-Sub-Contractors working for us on projects, including reviewing and authorising valuations issued to us
  • • Ensure payments are received and are made on time
  • • Settling Final Accounts on projects
  • • Request release of retentions from Main Contractors when they are due
  • • Reporting to the Commercial Director including providing information for reporting to the Board of Directors
  • • Take a proactive approach to help the company grow and improve
  • • Any other work as required including working alongside other departments to ensure successful delivery of projects

QUANTITY SURVEYOR QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Surveying qualifications are desirable.

PREFERRED SKILLS

Good verbal, written and mathematical abilities for good communication and customer service.

Computer literate in Microsoft Office applications

Problem solving and analytical thinking individual.

Experience in the industry is preferable, but Surveying experience is essential.

SALARY 

The Quantity Surveyor salary is £30,000 per annum (negotiable DOE) + benefits
