IT Monitoring Engineer / Analyst. A global claims management firm are looking for a new IT Monitoring Engineer / Analyst to join the team. This position can be office based or work from home depending on the candidate and location.

You will be involved in:

  • Developing the monitoring strategy for all infrastructure related services at the firm:
  • On-premises and cloud platforms
  • Network and physical hardware devices in data-centers and remote offices
  • Server and VM level monitoring of OS and processes
  • Developing standards and documentation for base level monitoring and alerting required on all systems at the firm
  • Consistent evaluation of monitoring and alerting rules and targets to reduce alert fatigue and ensure key metrics are easily accessible
  • Delivering easy to digest dashboards containing differing levels of metrics and data for internal teams and customers
  • Providing subject matter expertise on monitoring summarization and reporting, especially during critical incidents
  • Working across teams to provide consulting on best practices for monitoring and alerting, including integration with application monitoring systems and removing duplicate metric collections
  • Monitoring and adjusting key infrastructure KPIs, SLOs, and SLAs to reflect changes in the environment
  • Implementing monitoring as code so changes can be easily audited and maintained
  • Identifying technology gaps and implementing appropriate solutions collaboratively
  • Providing off-hours and remote support when needed


You must have:

  • Experience operating in a similar monitoring or site reliability engineering role
  • Expert knowledge of infrastructure monitoring tools, such as: Solarwinds, Nagios, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, Logicmonitor (very desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of Azure cloud environments
  • Strong knowledge of conveying monitoring data visually
  • Strong knowledge in Windows and/or Linux operating systems
  • Strong knowledge in PowerShell and/or Python
  • Strong knowledge in standard protocols (DNS/Mail/FTP/SSH, SNMP, etc)
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals
